We offer a lot of services that you wouldn't think fall under our expert perview. As our industry has grown and progressed (pun intended) we have slowly began to pull more under our umbrella. It started with TVs, surround sound, and home theater. Then it gradually expanded into home networking as streaming became, well, more mainstream. Which was around the same time as your more consumer level smart home devices started rolling out, so it helped a lot of our customers out. When we began getting into real home automation like Control4 and Savant, we began to see a lot more patio shades too. Customers wanted their roller shades integrated with the automation we were installing in their new homes. Time and time again, especially with East Texas humidity and heat, we came across patio screens. So it was time once again to pull in a new service, and after careful research we settled on Progressive Screens with their patented Magnatrack systems.
This is what makes the biggest difference with their rolling patio shades, and it sets them worlds apart from the competition. There are always problems you can have when dealing with outdoor shades that are not just exposed to the elements but are also motorized screens that move up and down when you need them. Outdoor shades run up and down in a track, just like a garage or shop door. They are also flexible and curtain like. Try taking a 10ft wide by 8ft tall piece of cloth and stretching it so it has no bunching or wrinkles. Then try to roll it while maintaining that perfect stretch. Other shade brands use normal tension to keep the screens pulled tight, but we use magnets.
The problem with normal tension is all the force is pulled inward towards the center of the outdoor curtain. If it pops out of the track, you have to call a service technician out to fix it. With the Magnatrack system using the worlds most powerful magnets, you have normal tension keeping the screens nice and tight BUT the magnets are also pulling outward. If they pop out of the track the magnets pull it right back in, reducing your service calls by up to 98%.
You would be surprised at the durability of these patio shades as well. They are designed to hold up even on beach front properties so they are hurricane rated. We have had customers completely enclose outdoor kitchens and patios to climate control them too. Installing roller shades will not only greatly help control the temperature (as well as keep bugs out) but it also enables you to heat and cool the area as well.
Of course, they look good too. As you can see from photos of our installations they don't look cheap and flimsy. Some outdoor shades can have a very "screen" look to them whereas Progressive Screens can go for high end curtain type of look. They can also be built into the home during contruction or added after the fact.
